Off-ice sessions also emphasize injury prevention, proper alignment, and overall athletic conditioning, helping skaters progress more confidently and efficiently in their on-ice training.

Group Lessons
Group lessons provide the opportunity to learn alongside others in a supportive, small-class environment with no more than three skaters on ice and no more than 10 off ice. This format encourages teamwork, motivation, and peer learning while still allowing for individualized attention from the coach. Skaters benefit from shared practice, fun collaboration, and the chance to build confidence together, all while progressing at their own pace.

Testing
Competitions/ Shows

From the U.S. Figure Skating Asociation (USFSA) : "U.S. Figure Skating tests serve as a prerequisite for competition and offer an opportunity for athletes to achieve personal goals in the sport. Test sessions feature a panel of U.S. Figure Skating officials and offer skaters the opportunity to highlight their abilities and advance to the next level. When a skater passes the final test in each pathway, they earn the honor of becoming a U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medalist."

Tests are available in skating skills, singles, pairs, and ice dance, and a separate track is available for adults age 21 and older.

What are Skating Skills Tests?
Skating skills (previously called moves in the field) are a series of standardized patterns used to evaluate a skater's foundational abilities in edge quality, posture, carriage, control, power, extension, and speed.

How do I test through USFSA?
You can work with coach Val to learn the designated patterns, programs, and skills necessary to pass each level in the discipline of your choosing. Then we can schedule a test date with a panel of registered USFSA judges.
USFSA has the following types of competitions:

-NON QUALIFYING COMPETITIONS

Nonqualifying events do not qualify skaters to the U.S. or World Championships, but provide the opportunity to engage with other skaters, hone your skills and deepen your experience in the world of competitive"

- QUALIFYING COMPETITIONS
